Historic villa, Strada Costiera

Halfway along the Strada Costiera, in a panoramic spot with an open view over the Gulf of Trieste, stands a detached villa of roughly 200 sqm. It was built in 1914 as the Pensione Vegetariana Santa Croce, on the initiative of Robert Lutz — a small piece of local history, later turned into a private home without losing its original character. A full renovation followed about ten years ago.

The layout runs over several levels. The ground floor takes the entrance, kitchen and laundry. Below, a generous room currently used for storage lends itself to a study, home office or guest bedroom. The upper floor is the sleeping area — a bathroom, the master bedroom and two more rooms.

The sea sits just across the road: a public stairway of around 220 steps drops to a swimmable stretch of coast in about 3 minutes. Behind the property, footpaths along the Karst ridge open up for walks.
